oops

Posted on Feb 28, 2006 at 12:31am
I just read this:
Matthew 6:16-20
“When you fast, do not look sullen like the hypocrites, for they make their faces unattractive so that people will see them fasting. I tell you the truth, they have their reward. When you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others when you are fasting, but only to your Father who is in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

So I guess I prolly shouldn't have posted that last post. Oopsies.

i think to mention you are fasting is a good thing, because it gives a good example to others.. but if you do it to get the attention of others (as the passage is mentioning) THATS whats wrong.. 'nawm sayin'?

i think the passage is talking more about what's in your heart, so if i tell people that i'm fasting to i guess "glorify myself" or to make them think highly of myself... like if it has anything at all to do with pride, then that's your reward. i can't remember what was in my heart when i posted that last one, so i dunno. at least i know how to do it from now on. my next one's gonna be 4 days btw. I just need to figger out what i want to fast for and then do it. although i do want it to be at least 2 weeks after the end of the last one for 'safety' reasons.
